Don’t you hate when you want sour cream and onion dip and it looks like the movie ”The Day After Tomorrow” outside?
That’s what happened to me and Aaron one day. It was snowing like crazy out and we wanted snacks while watching a movie. Unfortunately, we are not the type of people who run to the grocery store for bread and milk when the threat of snow comes. We would rather avoid that and then go hungry while cooped up inside.
We live life unprepared, one day at a time.
I got the Experimenting Bug!
We searched in our kitchen and had sour cream, cream cheese, and crackers. Aaron is perfectly happy with eating cream cheese with a spoon by itself. I, on the other hand, am a little pickier and usually watch in disgusted amazement when he does that. So I started my recipe search.
After searching recipes on Google and Pinterest, I got frustrated. I just wanted a quick dip with spices I already had! Who the heck carries buttermilk and herbs in their kitchen?
FYI, If you carry this stuff all the time, my hat goes off to you. Because it would spoil before I get to it.
So I decided to make my own and loved the taste of it on the first try. I was so proud of myself. It was actually the very first recipe I created on my own. I had spices but never really used them. As you can tell from my other recipes, that changed after I made this.
The Health Benefits!
The best part of making this at home is you know exactly what is in it.
You know there are no chemicals, nothing artificial , no added sugars or added sodium. It’s pure and simple.
It also has nutrients such as Vitamin A, Vitamin B2, Vitamin K, Phosphorus, and Calcium (and a whole lot more, but those are the nutrients it has most of).
If you are anything like me, you are probably like “What the heck is Phosphorus?” So I made this neat picture below to let you know how Phosphorus helps our body (the icons show what foods have it!).
Awesome, huh? This seems to do everything, because it does. If it had a code name, it would probably be called “The Regulator”. We need it to regulate how our body works.

Organic Valley Is The Best
I highly recommend to use Organic Valley cream cheese and sour cream for this recipe. You will not be sorry. It tastes way better than any other brand, including other organic brands. We tried it once and were hooked.
Side Note: Wonder why I use organic products? It’s not only because they taste better (YES, BIG DIFFERENCE), but also because I feel better when eating it. Once you try Organic Valley Cream Cheese and Sour Cream, the other brands will not taste as good. (FYI, I do not receive any form of compensation for referring Organic Valley products.
